Alan Pardew has been sacked as the manager of Crystal Palace.
The board of the Eagles were compelled to take action after a disastrous run of form which leaves the side in 17th place, one point above the drop zone after winning only one of the last 11 games.
Spread across the calendar year of 2016, Palace have only taken 26 points from 36 Premier League matches, a run of poor form which, if it were to be continued, would relegate them to the Championship.
The 55-year-old was appointed manager of the club he played for in January 2015 and he enjoyed some initial success, moving them out of the relegation zone before eventually finishing 10th.
A good start to last campaign was halted when the side's form began to dip around the turn of the year - they went 15 league games without a win from December until April - but Pardew still led the club to the FA Cup final where they lost to Manchester United after extra-time.
"Personally I have a lot of good feelings for this football club and am sad that my time there has ended," Pardew said.
"I feel that I have a special bond with the club and hope that hasn't been affected."
Chairman Steve Parish meanwhile paid tribute to Pardew for his efforts.
"During his tenure, Alan's hard work and dedication were without question," he said. "He has improved so many areas of the club."
Former England boss Sam Allardyce is the bookmakers' favourite to take over.
