Patrickswell begin life without Foley

Patrickswell kick off in the Credit Union Limerick SHC tomorrow without one of their main assets as the 2018 championship throws-in.

In 2016, 39-year old Foley hit two points from midfield to pocket his seventh Limerick SHC medal. However he has retired ahead of Patrickswell's clash with Adare on Saturday, live on eir Sport 2, with a 4.45pm start.

Twelve sides set out in search of the Daly Cup, Na Piarsaigh beginning their title defence just four weeks after their All-Ireland club hurling final replay defeat. They have won four of the last seven county senior titles but are not among the ten clubs who've won successive championship titles.

Adare were the last to do so in 2009.

Despite the loss of Foley, Thomas O’Brien is expected to be available for Patrickswell. Former champions Kilmallock play Ballybrown, live on eir Sport 2 at 3pm.

Both Kilmallock and Ballybrown could have players absent due to college/work commitments in the shape of Rob Hanley and Mikey Kiely respectively, according to the Limerick Leader.
