Perez handed five-place grid penalty

Force India's Sergio Perez has been handed a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's European Grand Prix in Baku.

Lewis Hamilton outpaced Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg by 0.258 seconds in final practice, with Force India's Nico Hulkenberg third, Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo fourth and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel.

Hulkenberg's team-mate Perez, who was sixth fastest, hit the barriers at the exit of Turn 15 on his final lap of the session, with the damage requiring the team's engineers to replace the gearbox.

Under F1 race regulations, each gearbox is required to complete six races or face a penalty.

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas missed the entire FP3 session after his car dislodged a drain cover, with the car's side pod, floor and aerodynamic appendages all damaged.

Rosberg leads Hamilton by nine points in the championship standings, although the world champion has won the last two races in Monaco and Canada.
