PL round-up: Liverpool leave it late

Divick Origi and James Milner were on the scoresheet, as Liverpool beat Sunderland 2-0 at Anfield to go level on points with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp's side laboured against David Moyes' well-organised side following an injury to Brazilian playmaker Phillipe Coutinho, who was carried off on a stretcher after 33 minutes with an injury to his right ankle injury following a 50-50 challenge with Black Cats' midfielder Didier Ndong.

However, Coutinho's replacement Origi netted the opener on 75 minutes, with a shot from the right channel that beat Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at his far post.

And James Milner wrapped up the scoring with an injury-time penalty, awarded following a rash Ndong challenge on Sadio Mane, as the Reds extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to 20 matches.

Fernando Llorente netted twice in injury-time, as Swansea City roared back from 4-3 down to beat Crystal Palace 5-4 at the Liberty Stadium.

Palace, 1-0 up thanks to Wilfried Zaha's 19th minute opener, were then 3-1 down with 22 minutes to go following a 36th-minute strike by Gylffi Sigurdsson and two goals in three minutes from Leroy Fer midway through the second half.

In a game marked by dreadful defending at set-pieces, Alan Pardew's side seemed to have secured only their sixth win in 37 Premier League outings following a 75th-minute James Tomkins toe-poke, a Jack Cork own goal and a Christian Benteke shot on the turn.

But Swansea secured their first win under new manager Bob Bradley, and their first league win in 12 matches, when Spanish forward Llorente came off the bench to net two scrappy goals in injury-time.

The victory sees Swansea move above Sunderland at the bottom of the Premier League table, while a sixth consecutive Premier League defeat leaves Palace just two places above the drop zone.

And there was more bad news for Palace's under-fire manager Alan Pardew, as striker Connor Wickham suffered a suspected cruciate injury at the start of the second half.

Hull City are now in the relegation zone only by virtue of goal difference after they came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with West Brom at the KCOM Stadium.

After a first half short on quality or excitement, the Baggies had the lead after Gareth McAuley headed home on 34 minutes.

Mike Phelan’s side had been booed off at the break after failing to muster a single shot on goal but they were much-improved in the second period and pushed hard for an equaliser.

They got the goal they deserved with 18 minutes remaining when captain Michael Dawson swept home after Dieumerci Mbokani had headed down Robert Snodgrass’ free-kick.

Hull remain in 18th but move close to safety with the point while Tony Pulis’ side missed the chance to leapfrog Manchester United into sixth place in the table, which a victory by a two-goal margin would have brought.

Islam Slimani’s penalty deep in stoppage time rescued a point for Leicester City as they drew 2-2 with Middlesbrough at the King Power stadium.

Alvaro Negredo had put the visitors in front on 13 minutes with his first goal since the opening day of the campaign.

Riyad Mahrez drew the champions level on 34 minutes when he fired home from the penalty spot after Calum Chambers was penalised for a handball.

Negredo put Boro back ahead when he produced a neat finish with just 18 minutes left on the clock.

Aitor Karanka's side looked like holding on for a massive three points which their display merited but Marten de Roon chopped Wes Morgan down with seconds left in added time and Slimani made no mistake from 12 yards to snatch a point for the hosts.
