City of London Police have launched a criminal investigation into an allegation of bribery in football.
The announcement comes on the back of the Daily Telegraph's investigation into alleged corruption in football, which resulted in Sam Allardyce losing his job as England manager.
"Detectives from the City of London Police Economic Crime Directorate have reviewed material gathered by a recent Daily Telegraph investigation into suspected corruption in football," a statement from the City of London Police read.
"This review of the material has concluded and the decision has been taken to begin a criminal investigation into a single suspected offence of bribery.
"[There have been] no arrests."
Allardyce was sacked after as caught on camera discussing how to get around the FA's rules regarding player transfers, but the former England manager is not part of the police investigation.
