PSG deny Neymar-Cavani rift

Paris Saint-Germain chairman president Nasser Al-Khelaifi insists there is no rift between forward pair Neymar and Edinson Cavani.

Uruguay striker Cavani and Brazil forward Neymar argued over which of them would take a second-half free kick in Sunday's 2-0 Ligue Un win over Lyon at the Parc des Princes, a row which was finally resolved when Dani Alves took the ball from Cavani and gave it to his international team-mate.

Cavani later saw a penalty saved by Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes, and reportedly there was an argument in the dressing-room between the PSG forward pair over who should take set-pieces.

The Spanish media then reported on Monday that Neymar wants "impossible" Cavani to be sold, but Al-Khelaifi downplayed rumours of a fall-out between the pair.

"No, there's nothing. It's you, the media, who are making problems," Al-Khelaifi told RMC.

Paris St-Germain boss Unai Emery says he wants the pair to come to a "gentleman's agreement" over who takes spot-kicks.

"Penalties will be taken by a couple of players. One is Edinson and the other is Neymar," the Spaniard said.

"There needs to be a gentlemen's agreement on the pitch when it comes to taking spot kicks.

"Apart from that, we will have to arrange things internally for when we get penalties because I believe that both are capable of converting them and I want them to alternate with this exercise."

Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue Un clash with Montpellier at La Mosson on Saturday, 23 September is live on eir Sport 1 [kick off 4pm]
