Ramires leaves Chelsea for China

Jiangsu pay £25m for midfielder

Ramires has left Chelsea to join China's Jiangsu Suning for a fee believed to be in the region of £25 million.

The Brazil midfielder moved from Benfica to Stamford Bridge in August 2010 for between £17m and £20m.

Ramires last started for the Blues, who have endured a torried defence of their Premier League title, in mid-December against Leicester City.

The 28-year-old made a total of 242 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 37 goals, and holds 52 senior Brazil caps.

He has enjoyed Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Champions League and Europa League glory with the West London giants.

Former Chelsea player Dan Petrescu is the manager of Jiangsu, who finished ninth of 16 in the Chinese Super League last year but triumphed in the Chinese FA Cup.

The club is based in the city of Nanjing, which is located 300 kilometres west-northwest of Shanghai and 1,200 kilometres south-southeast of Beijing.
