Rampant Galway thrash Donegal

Galway booked an All-Ireland SFC quarter-final clash with Kerry after hammering Donegal 4-17 to 0-14 at Markievicz Park.

The Tribesmen ran out deserved 15-point winners, while mounting pressure on Donegal boss Rory Gallagher whose side have failed to make the last-eight of the All-Ireland's for the first time since 2010.

John Heaney's two goals along with a Liam Silke spot-kick helped see Galway into the break with a lead of  3-9 to 0-7 as Donegal struggled to create any meaningful chances.

Donegal were reduced to 13 as Michael Murphy and Martin McElhinney were shown black cards, before Galway had Declan Kyne sent off for a second bookable offence.

The Ulster men's game went from bad to worse when they had a penalty saved by Bernard Power late on.

And Galway finished the game with a flurry as Danny Cummins' goal completed a job well done, while giving Kerry food for thought about when the two side's meet on July 30.
