Ranger goes to Chester

Investec Derby favourite US Army Ranger will face five rivals in Thursday's MBNA Chester Vase.

Trained by Aidan O'Brien, US Army Ranger made a winning debut at The Curragh on April 3 and is the current ante-post favourite for the Investec Derby.

While he is lacking experience, O'Brien has opted to declare him for the Group 3 over 12 furlongs with Ryan Moore taking the ride, while Seamie Heffernan will partner Port Douglas.

"US Army Ranger is in good form but he's going to be very green and we just hope he handles the bends," said O'Brien.

"The maiden he won was a slow-motion race on testing ground, but it won't be a slow-motion race on Thursday. He's going to learn a lot from it."

Karl Burke will saddle Biodynamic with Charlie Hills set to be represented by High Ground. The William Haggas-trained Dwight D, and Ormito from Andrew Balding's yard complete the line-up.
