Red Bull quickest in Belgian practice


Red Bull topped the timesheets at the end of the second free practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen holding off the challenge of his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.

Mercedes went quickest in the morning session but it was Red Bull who emerged fastest in the afternoon with Verstappen clocking a lap of 1:48.085 to finished a quarter of a second ahead of Ricciardo.

Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg was third ahead of Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari, while Sergio Perez rounded out the top five in the second Force India.

Mercedes had looked like going quickest once again before a change in strategy saw Nico Rosberg slip down to sixth place, while Lewis Hamilton could only managed 13th.

Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen finished behind Rosberg in seventh, while Romain Grosjean and Jenson Button were eighth and ninth for Haas and McLaren respectively.

Esteban Gutierrez completed the top ten in the second Haas.

Earlier, Rosberg produced the fastest time of the morning as he clocked a 1:48.348 for Mercedes.

The German finished 0.730seconds clear of Hamilton , who will start the race at the back of the grid, with Raikkonen and Perez third and fourth.

Vettel was fifth ahead of afternoon pacesetters Ricciardo and Verstappen, while Hulkenberg was eighth.

Valterri Bottas was ninth fastest for Williams ahead of Gutierrez.
