Rosberg fastest in Austria

Mercedes dominated Friday's second free practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix with Nico Rosberg once again getting the better of his team-mate Lewis-Hamilton.

Rosberg topped the timesheets in the morning session and edged out Hamilton in the rain-interrupted session in the afternoon.

Heavy rain began to fall less than ten minutes into the session and at one point turns 8 and 9 were drenched while the rest of the track remained dry. Conditions deteriorated as the rain continued to fall and there was less than half the 90 minutes remaining when it eventually stopped.

Rosberg set a time 1:07.967 before the rain fell and that was to prove to be the benchmark for the rest of the afternoon with Hamilton only managing to get within 0.019 of his team-mate.

Nico Hulkenberg was third fastest ahead of the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, with Daniel Ricciardo fourth.

Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz Jr took sixth ahead of the Max Verstappen's Red Bull and the Ferrari of Kimi Raikkone, while Valtteri Bottas in the Williams and McLaren's Jenson Button completed the top ten.
