Nico Rosberg took advantage of Lewis Hamilton's early exit to set the fastest time in the second free practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hamilton posted the fastest time in the morning but his afternoon session was ended after just four laps when he lost control of his car approaching Turn 11 and slammed into the tyre wall.
The reigning world champion walked away from the crash but Mercedes decided not to let him back out, preferring to check the case for damage ahead of qualifying on Saturday.
With Hamilton sitting out the remainder of the session, Rosberg clocked the fastest time as he produced a 1:20.435 lap to finish 0.595seconds ahead of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo and the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel.
Max Verstappen was fourth in the second Red Bull, while Hamilton did enough to finish the session in fifth.
Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was sixth ahead of McLaren duo Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Force India's Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez completed the top ten.
