Ross out with hamstring tear

Leinster prop Mike Ross could be sidelined for a number of months with the hamstring injury he sustained against Zebre in November.

The 36-year-old sustained the "high-grade" injury five minutes into Leinster’s 33-10 Pro12 victory over Zebre in Parma on 5 November, and will undergo a second scan this week after an initial scan proved inconclusive.

Leinster forwards coach John Fogarty confirmed on Monday that the Corkman, who was omitted from Joe Schmidt’s Ireland squad for the November Tests, suffered a tear in his hamstring muscle that could keep him out for a number of months.

The Pro 12 leaders will assess centre Rory O’Loughlin and winger Dave Kearney ahead of Friday's trip to Parc y Scarlets to face the Scarlets.

O’Loughlin missed the win over Zebre with a shoulder injury he sustained in the 24-13 victory over Connacht at the RDS on 29 October but will return to full training this week, while Kearney remains a doubt with an ankle injury.
