RSA glory for Blaklion

Blaklion paid little attention to the script by roaring to RSA Chase glory on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival.

More Of That and No More Heroes had been tipped to battle it out for the Grade 1 prize but a superb ride from Ryan Hatch helped Blaklion spring a surprise for Nigel Twiston-Davies.

Seeyouatmidnight sat at the head of field for the majority of the race but all the leading protagonists were in close order and there was little to choose between them as they approached the penultimate fence.

No More Heroes jumped into the lead two from home and rounding their home turn More Of That, Shaneshill and Blaklion were ready to thrown down their respective challenges.

Jumping the last No More Heroes had the edge but he nodded on landing and it was Blaklion and Shaneshill who pulled away to battle it out for the win, with the former too strong up the hill. He held on well up the hill to score by half-a-length.

More Of That was eight lengths back in third as No More Heroes dropped out of contention.

"He's not very big, but he can jump. He was absolutely super - he travelled all the way," the winning jockey said.

"He had a bit of boot at the end and passed them all. He's a very good horse and I just steered him really."
