Clare hurler Colin Ryan has announced his inter-county retirement.
The retirement is the second of the week from Clare’s All-Ireland conquering side of 2013, with Brendan Bugler also deciding to call it a day. Ryan played for the Banner County for a ten-year period, before taking a break in 2017, returning to his former soccer club Newmarket Celtic, with whom he won the Oscar Traynor Cup in May.
It had been anticpated that Ryan would pick up his inter-county hurl once more in 2018, but today he moved to confirm that would not be happening, announcing the decision on Twitter.
Ryan also has an Allianz League and under-21 hurling title on a CV that was punctutated by the 2013 All-Ireland triumph, in a season that saw him finish as the championship’s top-scorer with 0-70.
