Saints boost squad with new signings

St Patrick's Athletic have boosted their squad with two new signings ahead of the new SSE Airtricity League season which starts next month.

Former Scotland Under-21 international Billy King and English midfielder Dan Ward have been added to the Inchicore-based club’s ranks for the 2020 campaign.

"I was delighted to sign as everything I heard for the future sounds positive for this season and the future as well," former Rangers, Greenock Morton, Dundee United and Hearts player King said.

Ward’s former clubs include Newcastle United and Middlesbrough and he joins following a recent spell at non-league Spennymoor Town.

There is more good news for Saints fans as the club announced that they have re-signed midfielder James Doona for what will be his third season at Richmond Park.

"It feels good to be back at the club in pre-season," local boy Doona said.

"I’ve loads to prove this year. I felt I kicked on last year when Stephen [O'Donnell] came into the club, so hopefully I can do that again for this year.

"There’s a lot of places up for grabs and everyone is competing hard as they want to play, so hopefully I can kick on."
