Southampton are close to appointing Claude Puel as their new manager, according to widespread reports on Monday.
The Saints have been searching for a new manager since Ronald Koeman left the club to move to Everton with Manuel Pellegrini and Rudi Garcia both linked with the vacancy.
With the club ruling out a move for either manager, Puel has emerged as the favourite to take over at St Mary's. Indeed, it has been reported that he could be appointed as Koeman's successor by the end of the week.
Puel won the Ligue 1 title with Monaco before spending six years at Lille. From there he moved to Lyon but has spent the last four years at Nice, guiding the club to four in Ligue 1 last season.
