Sane closes in on Man City move

Schalke winger Leroy Sane is set to join Manchester City this week, the Bundesliga club has confirmed.

Schalke confirmed on Twitter that Sane has not travelled with the rest of the squad to their training squad in Austria.

"Leroy ane is currently in Manchester and will not be travelling with Schalke to the training camp," the tweet read.

Sane, who was part of the Germany squad that reached the semi-finals at Euro 2016, told Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel earlier this summer that he wanted to leave the club.

And new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola recently confirmed that he wanted to sign the 20-year-old,who scored eight goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances for Schalke last season.

"Of course we talk to him - Schalke know we are interested but at this moment we don't have many possibilities to get him," Guardiola said on 21 July.
