Morgan Schneiderlin is 'more than probably going to Everton', Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed.
Schneiderlin has been restricted to just eight appearances for United this season after falling down the pecking order under Mourinho and he has been linked with a number of clubs, including West Brom.
United have been holding out for an offer above £20million as they look to recoup the majority of the £25million they spent on the 27-year-old in July 2015 and it is understood that Everton have agreed an initial £22million deal, although this could rise with add-ons.
Speaking after United's 2-0 defeat of Hull City in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final, Mourinho confirmed that the two clubs are close to finalising a deal for the France international.
"No details. But before the match I was informed by Mr [Ed] Woodward [United's executive vice-chairman] that the situation is close. So Morgan is more than probably going to Everton," Mourinho told Sky Sports.
"So I'm sad, I'm happy.
"I'm sad because I like him and he could be an option for us in a long season.
"I'm happy because this is what he wants - he wants to play every game, to be an important player in the team.
"So if this is what he wants, I am happy for a very good professional, somebody I can only say good things about."
