Schweinsteiger rules out European move

Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger does not want to play for another European club.

Schweinsteiger has two years to run on his contract at Old Trafford but he has been frozen out of the first-team by manager Jose Mourinho with reports suggesting he has been forced to train with the Under-23s.

Despite the situation, the 32-year-old has no desire to join another European club and is prepared to wait for his opportunity at United.

In a statement released via his official Twitter page, Schweinsteiger wrote: "MUFC will be my last club in Europe. I respect other clubs, but Manchester United was the only one which could make me leave Bayern Munich. I will be ready, if the team needs me. That is all I can say about the current situation. I want to thank the fans for the amazing support over the recent weeks."

Schweinsteiger signed a three-year deal when he joined United from Bayern Munich in 2015 and went on to make 31 appearances for the club before injury brought his season to a close.
