Sean Kelly considers running for Irish Presidency

Sean Kelly is thinking about running for the Irish presidency.

The former GAA President, a Fine Gael MEP, said that he would be honoured if chosen to run.

"A lot of people have asked me about it. I will think about it," said Kelly to the Irish Examiner.

"A couple of people in the parliamentary party have said, 'Are you considering it? You should throw your hat in the ring if it comes up'."

Kelly was elected GAA president in 2003 and held the office for three years.

The incumbent President, Michael D Higgins, is also a huge sports fan and President of Galway United.
