Johnny Sexton could be set for a spell away from the game after his latest injury setback.
Sexton had overcome a hamstring injury in the build-up to Ireland's November Series only to aggravate the injury during the first half of the loss to New Zealand on November 19, which resulted in him missing the win over Australia on Saturday.
The Leinster fly-half has struggled with injuries in recent years and Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt admits the 31-year-old may need some time off to ensure he fully recovers from the latest setback.
“Johnny, I got asked last week does he need a window of time to make sure that he can be more robust and that’s probably one of the things that comes up for discussion now that this window is over," Schmidt is quoted as saying in the Irish Examiner.
While Ireland do not play again until February, Leinster have three Guinness PRO12 games as well as back-to-back Champions Cup fixtures before the end of the year and the Blues will been keen to have Sexton available.
