Jonathan Sexton has been ruled out of Ireland's upcoming three-Test tour to South Africa because of a shoulder injury.
The Leinster out-half Sexton was injured during Leinster's Guinness PRO12 final defeat to Connacht in Edinburgh but managed to complete the full 80 minutes. However, he has undergone surgery and is facing up to three months on the sidelines.
News of Sexton's injury comes just a couple of days after Luke Fitzgerald was also ruled out of the tour because of a knee injury. His replacement has yet to be announced but it is understood that Connacht's Matt Healy will join the travelling party.
