Silva targets new faces

Hull manager Marco Silva is keen to strengthen his squad as soon as possible.

The Tigers have not won in the league since November and their poor form resulted in Mike Phelan being relieved of his duties last week.

Silva enjoyed a positive start to his tenure at the KCOM Stadium as Hull defeated Swansea in the third round of the FA Cup but the former of Sporting Lisbon and Olympiakos manager believes they must bring in new faces as soon as possible if they are to beat the drop.

Oumar Niasse is one of those that has been linked with the Tigers but Silva has refused to confirm or deny the speculation.

"We will see. I will only talk about transfers, about new players, only when these players sign for the club. If it is true or not, it is impossible for me to say," Silva told his pre-match press conference.

"Of course we are interested in a lot of players and we will see what is possible or not, but at the moment I don't want to talk about players from other teams.

"I hope we can sign players this week, we will see. We need, we need.

"I work two training sessions with 13-15 players and we will see how many I have today.

"We need to do something fast because if you need to be more competitive against the others and improve, we must do something fast. Really fast."

Robert Snodgrass was the subject of a bid from West Ham last week but Silva has made it clear he is not interested in selling the Scotland international.

"At the moment, I only think how to improve my team. I don't want to lose players, to lose our important players," the manager explained.

"I hope he continues with us because he is an important player for us."
