Chris Smalling has paid tribute to the atmosphere in the Manchester United dressing room.
After Jose Mourinho recently praised his players for forming a "special group", the England centre-half has followed suit, claiming the bond the squad have surpasses that of other Premier League sides.
The former Fulham defender played a full part in the pre-season tour of the USA but was forced to watch on as Eric Bailly and Phil Jones got the nod for selection for their opening day 4-0 hammering of West Ham.
But Smalling didn't take his benching to heart and in what is perhaps a nod to the disquiet in the Chelsea and Liverpool dressing-rooms over the Diego Costa and Philippe Coutinho transfer sagas respectively, he is extremely pleased with the harmony at Old Trafford.
“It’s hard to be able to have 25 players that all get along,” he said. “But I’ve found in the dressing room everybody is getting on, everyone’s joking, we’ve got music playing and everyone is laughing and joking about.
“I hear a lot of stories from other clubs and there’s a lot more people that don’t get on than us so I think we’re very blessed to have the changing room that we have.”
