Raheem Sterling will miss the majority of the Premier League run-in as a result of the groin injury he sustained in the Manchester derby.
Sterling was injured during Manchester City's 1-0 defeat on Sunday and speaking after the game manager Manuel Pellegrini suggested he would be out for up to a month.
It has emerged that the problem is worse than first thought with the England international set to be out for between six and eight weeks, which would see him miss almost all of the club's final eight games in the Premier League.
Indeed, an eight-week absence would rule him out until the final day of the Premier League on May 15.
Joe Hart picked up a calf injury in the same game but he could be back within two weeks as the problem is not as bad as first feared.
