Swansea agree record fee for Spanish striker

Borja set to arrive from Atletico

Swansea have agreed a club-record fee for Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston.

The club have moved quickly to replace Andre Ayew who completed his move to West Ham yesterday with the 23-year-old Spaniard believed to be en route to south Wales for a medical.

Borja, who began his career as a goalkeeper before being transformed into a striker, is a product of the Atletico youth academy but has spent the last couple of seasons out on loan.

The former Spanish under-19 international enjoyed a prolific run last season, netting 18 goals for Eibar in La Liga.

After suffering a serious knee injury on his debut for Atletico, on his return he was forced to go out on loan to secure first team football.

He enjoyed loan spells at lower-league sides Murcia and Huesca before moving to Deportivo La Coruna and Real Zaragoza and then on to Eibar last year.

His goals helped them to finish 14th in the La Liga table after coming close to immediate relegation in their first season back in the top flight the year before.
