Chelsea captain John Terry will miss Friday's Premier League clash with Liverpool due to injury.
Terry was injured in the latter stages of Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Swansea on Sunday and was subsequently pictured leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches.
Manager Antonio Conte played down injury in his post-match press conference but a scan has revealed the Blues skipper strained ligaments in his foot, which will prevent him from playing for up to ten days.
"I have strained my ligaments in my ankle which means I will be out for 10 days," Terry wrote on Instagram.
"Absolutely gutted, but will be giving everything to get back playing."
The injury means Terry will miss Friday's visit of Liverpool to Stamford Bridge as well as the EFL third round game against Leicester.
Terry's absence paves the way for David Luiz to make his second debut for Chelsea following his deadline day move from Paris Saint-Germain.
"John Terry's injury suffered in Sunday's game at Swansea is strained ligaments in his foot. He will be out for approximately 10 days," a statement from the club read.
"Our captain was injured in the closing minutes of the 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium. He completed the game in pain and Antonio Conte confirmed afterwards the problem would need medical assessment."
