The New One is to remain over hurdles for the time being with the 32Red.com Christmas Hurdle his immediate target.
The eight-year-old had been due to be campaigned over fences this season but unfavourable ground conditions forced connections into a rethink.
He had been due to run at Exeter earlier this month but the meeting was called off due to frost, resulting in him being declared for the International Hurdle. He went on to beat My Tent Or Yours for a third victory in the Grade Two feature and trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies has confirmed he will remain over timber for his next start.
"The New One is in very good form and is Christmas bound. He has a fortnight between races and he should be okay for that," Twiston-Davies told the Racing Post.
Having been frustrated in his attempts to try his charge over the larger obstacles, Twiston-Davies is looking forward to his run at Kempton on Monday week.
"We are a little bit more invigorated about hurdling. It was a very peculiar day because if Exeter hadn't been off, the handicap chase would have been won by Aso and My Tent Or Yours would have looked quite good in the International Hurdle," he explained.
"If Exeter had been on My Tent Or Yours would have won by 13 lengths at Cheltenham and they would have been very pleased."
