Tipperary legend Eoin Kelly has hailed the positive impact Davy Fitzgerald has had as manager of the Wexford hurlers.
Speaking ahead of Wexford's trip to take on the Premier County, which you can see live on eir Sport 2 on Saturday evening [throw-in 19.00], Kelly believes the former Clare All-Ireland winning manager has instilled a winning mentality into the senior county team.
“You look at Wexford top of the table, it’s brilliant for hurling, it’s brilliant for Wexford people,” he said on eir Sport’s Match Night Live. “They’ve really got behind their team.
“If Wexford win tonight they’ve probably qualified for the quarter-finals of the league….there’s a couple of key fixtures this weekend, at the bottom of the table with Kilkenny and Waterford but I think Wexford have been the story of Division 1A.
“Mikey Ryan said during the week that the Davy Fitz factor is real. It definitely is. He has galvanized his team, they’re really hurling for him.
“The winning mentality is in that Wexford dressing room and the most important thing, I mentioned already, the supporters in the town are behind them.”
