Top class entry for Lexus Chase

Cheltenham Gold cup winner Coneygree heads the 26 entries for the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown.

The December 28 Grade 1 has attracted a top-class entry with several leading Gold Cup fancies among the likely starters.

Coneygree landed the Gold Cup for Mark Bradstock in March when he defeated Willie Mullins' Djakadam and the pair could renew rivalry at the Dublin venue after Christmas.

Last year's winner Road To Riches, who was third at Cheltenham, could take his chance for Noel Meade, while Mullins has also the option of running Vautour and Sir Des Champs, while Don Cossack is a possible for Gordon Elliott.

Hennessy fifth Saphir Du Rheu and this year's Grand National winner Many Clouds could make the trip to Dublin alongside the Paul Nicholls-trained Sam Winner and Southfield Theatre and Jonjo O'Neill's Shutthefrontdoor.

The entries for the seven Grade 1 races at Leopardstown's Christmas Festival were unveiled on Tuesday with the first four horses from last year's Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase among those included in the December 27 contest.

Henry de Bromhead has for possible entries - Special Tiara, Days Hotel, Sizing Granite and Smashing - while Hidden Cyclone could join Twinlight in the field.

Drinmore Novice Chase first and second No More Heroes and Monksland could clash again in the Neville Hotels Novice Chase on December 29, while Nichols Canyon, Arctic Fire, Identity Thief and Windsor Park are among the 15 entries for the Ryanair Hurdle on the same card.

"It is an exciting time for everyone at Leopardstown and coming hot on the heels of the announcement of our €12million development plan, we could not be happier with the quality of entries for the seven Grade One races at our Christmas Festival," Leopardstown chief executive Pat Keogh said.
