Tough Champions League draw for English sides

Gunners draw Bayern again while City face Monaco

The three remaining English sides face a tough task after the draw was made for the last-16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal face the toughest task as they have been drawn against German champions Bayern Munich, with the first leg set for the Allianz Arena, while Manchester City face Monaco and Leicester will play Sevilla.

The Gunners were drawn against Bayern at this stage in 2013 and 2014, losing out on both occasions and finished runners-up to them in their group last season. They will be boosted by the fact that Bayern’s form has been as dominant this season under new manager Carlo Ancelotti as it was under Pep Guardiola last term.

Guardiola’s new club will host Monaco in the first leg of their last-16 clash. The French side have been impressive this season, beating Tottenham home and away as they won their group easily.

It will be a tough task for City who have been in indifferent form of late and have lost their last two league matches in succession to slip seven points adrift of leaders Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Leicester’s reward for topping their group is a head-to-head with Spanish side Sevilla who are currently third in La Liga. Claudio Ranieri will take some comfort from the fact that the second leg will be at the King Power Stadium.

The remainder of the draw threw up a couple of interesting ties with Barcelona set to play PSG and Real Madrid facing Napoli.

The first legs will be played on February 14-15th and 21-22nd, with the second legs set for March 7-8th and 14-15th.
