Toure to leave Liverpool

Kolo Toure is to leave Liverpool after the club failed to offer him a new contract.

Toure finished the season as Liverpool's first-choice centre-back alongside Dejan Lovren and it was thought he would be offered a new deal following Mamadou Sakho's suspension for failing a drugs test.

However, UEFA's decision not to extend Sakho's suspension beyond the initial 30-day period means the France international is free to play for Liverpool.

Speaking in the wake of the Europa League final defeat to Sevilla, Toure admitted he was in the dark about his future at Anfield, but the Ivorian is now free to look for another club after he was included in the Premier League's list of released players.

It has been reported that Toure was offered the chance to stay at the club in a non-playing capacity but he is keen to extend his playing career amid interest from China and Monaco.

Liverpool have also confirmed the release of Jose Enrique, Joao Carlos Teixeira, Jerome Sinclair and Jordan Rossiter.
