Tribesmen to be without Glynn

Galway manager Michael Donoghue expects Johnny Glynn to miss the Championship.

Glynn has been in New York for the past few months and is expected to remain in the United States, ruling him out of the Championship.

"Johnny Glynn is going to stay in America, there is closure on that,” Donoghue said.

"We won’t have him for the championship, we are just going to work hard with the lads to get them back from injury to push on."

Galway will have to settle for playing in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League in 2017 after losing to Cork in Sunday's relegation play-off.

The Tribesmen looked to be heading towards the win when they were three points clear heading into the final few minutes but Cork hit back with two late goals to snatch the victory.

"The goals came at a key time because I thought we were in a decent enough position with six or seven minutes to go. Goals win games and they got two in quick succession, which has hurt us the most," Glynn said.

"Ultimately when you are playing Cork you don’t want the game to turn into a shoot-out. That is what it did. When you play that way you are going to live by the sword or die by the sword. They finished strong with those two goals."
