Trippier makes Atletico move


Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier has moved to Spanish side Atletico Madrid for a fee of £20m.

The England international, who joined Tottenham from Burnley in 2015, has signed a three-year deal with the Spanish giants.

He played over 100 games for the north London side and was contracted until 2022. However, he admitted last season that it was unlikely he would see out that contract.

Trippier is Atletico manager Diego Simeone’s third major defensive signing of the summer following the arrival of centre-back Felipe from Porto and left-back Renan Lodi from Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense.

The club have now spent around £170m this summer so far, with Portugal striker Joao Felix arriving from Benfica for £113m and midfielder Marcos Llorente from city rivals Real for around £36m.

However, they recouped £107.7m from the sale of French international striker Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona.

Fellow full-back Danny Rose along with Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou are expected to follow Trippier out of White Hart Lane before the summer is over.
