Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has said.
Mkhitaryan has just one year left on his contract and is desperate to make the move to Manchester.
With the Armenian unlikely to sign a new deal, Dortmund are ready to let him move on and have received a significantly improved offer from the Premier League club.
“The situation is now different. Manchester have made a much improved offer. In situations like this there are always a lot of different things to consider and in the end at one point we have to make a decision," Watzke told Sport Bild.
“And as we are back in training on Monday we will decide at the weekend. I have contacted the relevant people and we will weigh things up at the weekend. And then the board will make the decision, definitely at the weekend.”
Should the deal go through, Mkhitaryan would become United's second signing of the summer following the arrival of defender Eric Bailly from Villarreal.
