Vasseur leaves Renault

Renault have parted company with team principal Frederic Vasseur with immediate effect.

Renault endured a difficult first season back in Formula 1 as a team owner as they finished ninth in the constructors' championship.

Reports of a difficult relationship between Vasseur and Renault Sport managing director Cyril Abiteboul have circulated for months and the team's decision to undertake a major restructure has done little to ease the rumours.

Vasseur joined the team after enjoying a strong career in the GP2 Series as team boss and co-foun der of the ART team but just a year after joining Renault the Frenchman and Renault have agreed to part company.

A statement from the team hinted that Renault and Vasseur will work together in "a new form in the future".

Cryil Abiteboul will continue as Renault Sport's managing director with Jerome Stoll remaining in his role as president.
