Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel expects to sign his new contract with Ferrari next month.
Vettel's
current deal with the Italian team expires at the
end of the season, but the
German has played down speculation that he has held off on putting
pen to paper on a new contract because he wants to move to Mercedes.
The F1 circus takes a four-week break after this weekend's Hungarian GP, and Vettel says he will sign his new Ferrari deal during the summer recess.
"We have other things to do," Vettel said in Thursday's drivers' press conference ahead of the Hungarian GP.
"In the summer there's a bit more time, there's a couple of weeks rest where there's no race but for now, focus is extremely high on working on the car.
"A piece of paper can be signed fairly quickly so that's not a problem."
And asked if he intended to race for Ferrari in 2018, Vettel replied: "I don't see why not.
"I'm certainly not ready this weekend, but I'm not in a rush, I don't think the team is in a rush as far as I understand. I think they would tell me otherwise. There's no problem, nothing wrong."
The Hungarian Grand Prix will be shown live over the weekend of 28-30 July on eir sport in Ireland.
