Villareal have admitted that they will be willing to sell Eric Bailly to Manchester United so long as the Old Trafford club pay what they want.
Weekend reports suggested the English club had agreed a fee of £27.6m - including add-ons - for the centre half with Bayern Munich and Chelsea also interested in the 22-year-old.
However, while Villarreal director Fernando Roig Negueroles admitted that the Spaniards are prepared to allow him leave, he hinted that a fee had not yet been agreed.
“There is a team that is very interested and if the three parties agree
there will be no problems," he said. "If the player wants to leave and Manchester
want to pay, we will reach an agreement.”
Bailly joined the Yellow Submarine from Espanyol only 18 months ago for a fee of approximately £5.5m and has appeared in La Liga 40 times.
The defender has earned 15 caps with Ivory Coast and was an integral part of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations victory.
The position is one where Utd need reinforcements with Daley Blind believed to be consider more a left-back or defensive midfielder by new manager Jose Mourinho while Phil Jones has been consistently injured and failed to live up to the early hype.
