Walters returns to training

Joins rest of the squad in Versaille

Jonathan Walters has returned to training ahead of the Republic of Ireland's Euro 2016 Group E opener against Sweden on Monday.

Walters has not trained since picking up an Achilles problem last Wednesday.

Having missed almost a week of work, Walters joined the rest of the squad for Thursday's first training session in France, but worked with physios while his team-mates took part in a practice match.

“John trained on his own today, but he is improving every day. We still have several days, but he is improving," manager Martin O'Neill told reporters after the session.

Robbie Keane (calf) and Robbie Brady (back) also took part in Thursday's session in Versaille, which took place in front of 2,000 local school children.

“Hopefully they came through it alright; we’ll find out this afternoon,” added O’Neill.
