Enda Morrissey and TJ Reid scored in injury-time as Kilkenny came from behind to draw 0-18 to 0-18 with Galway in Sunday's Leinster SHC final at Croke Park.
The All-Ireland champions, who led by two points heading into stoppage-time, would have booked their place in this year's semi-finals had Hurler of the Year Joe Canning managed to covert a free from the sideline.
But the Portumna native missed, giving Brian Cody's men a lifeline late in the game.

Morrissey reduced the gap to just one point, after former Hurler of the Year Richie Hogan found the Bennettsbridge clubman with a crossfield pass.
And Reid, a four-time Leinster champion and three-time All-Ireland winner with Kilkenny, hit over a brilliant point from 65 yards to secure a replay for his side, their first Leinster hurling final replay since 1993.
The two teams will meet again next Sunday at Semple Stadium, with a throw-in time yet to be confirmed, as Croke Park is unavailable because of a Michael Buble concert.
