Dermot Weld fears the draw could have a huge impact on Harzand's chances in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.
The dual derby winner is bid to become the first horse since his sire Sea The Stars to win all three races in the same season, but the Arc is due to be run at Chantilly instead of Longchamp due to the redevelopment works at the Paris venue.
Weld would prefer if it was at Longchamp and believes the draw could have a say in the destination of the race.
"I would personally much prefer if the Arc was run at Longchamp," Weld told the Irish Times.
"My experience of Chantilly includes Famous Name getting beaten by a head there for the French Derby when he was drawn 17.
"The draw has a huge impact at Chantilly, including over a mile and a half."
Harzand emerged as a doubt for the Arc after he was struck into on his way to finishing eighth in the Qipco Irish Champion Stakes, but he is back training and Weld pleased with his condition as he prepares for the October 2 feature.
"Pat Smullen rode him for the first time since Leopardstown (on Tuesday morning)," he added. "They did a bit of work and the horse went nicely. This horse is as tough as teak, that's the great thing about him.
"He is a very healthy horse, both mentally and physically."
