Arsene Wenger has denied that Mesut Ozil's future at Arsenal hinges on the manager's position beyond the end of the current season.
Wenger's contract is due to expire at the end of the season and the Frenchman has yet to indicate whether he intends to remain in the Arsenal hotseat.
Ozil, meanwhile, is in the middle of contract negotiations with the club and last week claimed that he wants to know what the future holds for Wenger before signing a new deal with Arsenal.
But Wenger insists there are many factors involved in Ozil's decision.
“I think he has been a bit misinterpreted. I don’t think that is the main part of his decision," Wenger told reporters at Friday's press conference.
“We always speak, I speak more with his agent on the contract than with him.
“Let’s not forget all these players have 18 months to go, that is a long time in football. I’m very relaxed.”
Ozil has missed the last three games due to illness but he has been passed fit for Saturday's Premier League trip to Swansea.
