Wenger hopeful Wilshere will sign

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Jack Wilshere will sign a new contract but he has warned that the club will not increase the offer on the table.

After spending last season on loan at Bournemouth, Wilshere has re-established his place in the Arsenal first-team but his contract is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, raising the possibility that the midfielder could leave on a free transfer.

Despite Everton's reported interest in the England international, Wenger remains confident that he will still be at Arsenal next season.

“On my side nothing had changed,” said Wenger. “Jack will be free at the end of the season. We make a proposal. I want him to stay and be linked to the club for the future and I hope he will do it.”
