Arsene Wenger has defended Alexis Sanchez after his furious reaction to Arsenal's 3-3 draw against Bournemouth on Tuesday.
The Gunners looked to be heading for a fourth defeat of the season when they fell three goals behind at the Vitality Stadium before Sanchez netted in the 70th minute to give them a glimmer of hope.
Lucas Perez and Olivier Giroud also found the net as the Gunners came from 3-0 down to recuse a point, but the result still saw Wenger’s men lose ground on their title rivals.
Sanchez was far from happy at the final whistle as he threw his gloves to the ground before storming down the tunnel and it has since been reported that he refused to speak to his team-mates in the dressing room after the game.
With the Chile international yet to sign a new contract, speculation is mounting that he could leave Arsenal and his reaction has done little to diffuse the rumours, but Wenger was pleased with the passion he showed after a frustrating night for the club.
"Well, what is surprising there? You want to win the games and when you don't win, you are unhappy - it is normal," Wenger replied when asked about Sanchez's reaction.
"Without passion, you do not come back after 70 minutes from three goals down in the Premier League.
"First of all it is exceptional, it doesn't often happen in the Premier League and you need a special response, which is what happened.
"We wanted to win the game, and we didn't win the game so we are all frustrated. Of course Sanchez is fine."
