Arsene Wenger says he would consider taking on the England role if he didn't have any club commitments.
The Frenchman's comments are sure to interest the FA as they search for a successor to Sam Allardyce who was fired earlier this week after only 67 days in the job.
Gareth Southgate has been appointed on an interim basis, but might be encouraged to stay on until Wenger was available.
The Arsenal boss celebrates 20 years at the helm in north London this week but, with his contract set to expire at the end of this season, there has been no indication whether he has been offered an extension or, if so, whether he would accept it.
Asked about the possibility of taking on the England role, the 67-year-old said: "My priority is to do well here. If I am free one day, why not?
''It was a huge surprise what happened to Sam Allardyce. Who could have predicted that 48 hours ago? Nobody.
"The game's always full of surprises. My priority has always been this club and until the end of this season, I'm here. I'm completely focused on that.
"I've said many times that my priority has always been Arsenal Football Club and I have to assess how well I do until the end of the season."
