Wilshere could face Sunderland

Jack Wilshere could make his Arsenal return for Sunday's trip to Sunderland.

Wilshere has not played for the Gunners all season after breaking his leg during pre-season, but the 24-year-old has featured for the Under-21s in three games in recent weeks.

While Thursday’s game against West Brom will come too soon for the player, manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that he will be available for selection at the weekend.

"He has had no setbacks and is getting better. He will be available after West Brom," Wenger told his pre-match press conference.

"In every game he was sharper, he has a good fitness basis. He is available for selection."

Despite his lack of game time, Wenger has backed Wilshere to make England's Euro 2016 squad and believes he has a good chance of being included by Roy Hodgson.

"He has played three games already. There is still two months before the Euros, he should be perfectly fit," the manager stated.
