Tyron Woodley will defend his welterweight title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 235 on March 2 in Las Vegas.
The welterweight title fight will be the co-main event for UFC 235 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will mark the fifth time that Woodley has defended his title since winning the belt in 2016.
Woodley knocked out Robbie Lawler in July 2016 to become champion of the 170-pound weight class before successfully overcoming Stephen Thompson (twice), Demian Maia and Darren Till.
Usman, meanwhile, is unbeaten in nine fights, including wins over Leon Edwards, Maia and Rafael Dos Anjos and he has been selected to fight Woodley over Colby Covington.
While the fight has been set, Woodley has already set his sights on going up against Covington in June.
“I just recognized that at some point I’m gonna fight all these guys. So I’m gonna go out there and fight Kamaru Usman and we’ll see what happens after that. Most likely I‘ll end up fighting Colby next up. Yeah, I’ll fight Colby next after that. Probably in June," he is quoted as saying by MMAFighting.com.
"I think they’ve got a fight in Chicago in June. I’m a midwest guy. I train in Milwaukee which is an hour and a half from Chicago, St. Louis is not that far, and I think I’ve got strong roots there as well so it would be a good fight to headline on that card.”
