Tiger Woods showed that maybe he isn't finished at the top level after he fired a bogey-free 65 at the Hero Challenge in the Bahamas.
Having shown signs of promise in the opening round on Thursday before mistakes on the back nine saw him sign for a one-over-par 73, the former world number one was in sizzling form on Friday, grabbing seven birdies while not dropping a single shot.
The score from the 14-time major champion was the third best of the day with only defending champion Bubba Watson (63) and Brandt Snedeker (64) going lower.
Woods, who played alone after scheduled partner Justin Rose pulled out earlier in the day due to a back injury, even found time for a trademark fist-pump after he sank a 25-footer on 16 to save par.
The 40-year-old lies in ninth place in the 18-man tournament which he hosts, six shots behind joint leaders Dustin Johnson and Hideki Matsuyama and he was delighted with his day's work.
"It feels good. As I said yesterday I had it going through eight holes and lost it and finished over par," Woods told Golf Channel.
"Today was different ... I played the middle part of the round better, turned it around and kept the momentum going and I moved myself up the board."
